Art Classes

The Ocean Yang Atelier
Founded in 2019 in Luxembourg, the atelier is dedicated to serious, long-term artistic training rooted in classical academic traditions rather than short-term or decorative approaches.
Teaching Focus
The atelier’s instruction is grounded in a rigorous academic framework that prioritizes structure, observation, and progressive technical mastery. This academic framework is articulated through three complementary areas of practice:
-
Academic drawing using classical atelier methods (Bargue-style training, proportion, structural drawing, tonal modeling)
-
Realist painting in oil and acrylic, with strong emphasis on master studies
-
Progressive development from technical accuracy to pictorial depth and personal expression
Training Structure

At Ocean Yang Atelier, mastery begins with a solid foundation. Instruction follows a structured academic progression in which students develop observation, proportion, perspective, and the understanding of light and shadow before advancing to color, composition, and personal expression. Drawing is established as the essential first discipline, followed by realist painting, master copy studies, and eventually independent projects. This sequence reflects the traditional training model used in professional ateliers worldwide and ensures that technical skills are built methodically rather than intuitively or decoratively.

This approach develops technical precision, visual understanding, and creative independence, enabling students to form their own artistic voice with confidence and clarity. Small classes, limited to a maximum of nine students, allow for close observation and individualized guidance, ensuring that each student progresses at an appropriate pace and achieves measurable, lasting improvement at every stage of training.
